According to Professor John Marzluff’s research, crows can hold grudges for 17 years. In 2006, Marzluff trapped seven crows while wearing an ogre mask on the University of Washington’s Seattle campus. After releasing the birds, he documented how the crows reacted to the mask. About half of the captured crows issued aggressive caws when they spotted the ogre, and the caws only stopped this September. This means some of the crows held a grudge for 17 years. Unfortunately, it seems their memories aren’t perfect: They also aggressively cawed at a Dick Cheney mask. (newser)
