Losing your sense of smell is linked to 139 medical conditions, a study from the University of California found. These conditions range from Alzheimer’s disease to depression. Researchers hypothesize that a diminished sense of smell could act as a kind of “canary in a coal mine”, as people who later develop conditions like Parkinson’s often experience this symptom before developing movement-related problems. All 139 conditions associated with a loss of sense of smell were also linked to inflammation in the body. (Study Finds)
