An abandoned baby emu found an unlikely mother in a British aviary! Shrub the emu was rejected by both parents, and was adopted by Nugget, a Bantam hen. Despite being much larger than her foster mother, Shrub learned how to eat and walk under Nugget’s care. “Shrub quickly learned how to pick up food, drink, and coordinate her gangly legs. The keepers loved watching the two of them together,” Polly Bramham of Birdworld said. Shrub’s parents have since come around and now take care of their baby full-time. “Seeing Shrub with her parents as they race around their paddock, you would never guess their difficult beginnings.” (Good News Network)
