A new study suggests that deaths from cardiovascular disease have risen for adults between the ages of 25 and 64 in rural areas. Researchers analyzed death certificate data for more than 11 million Americans between 2010 and 2022 and found a 21% increase. “Our findings suggest that targeted policy efforts to improve the cardiovascular health in rural areas, especially among younger age groups, are urgently needed now more than ever,” study author Dr. Lucas Xavier Marinacci said. Risk factors for cardiovascular disease include diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, which are all more common among rural adults. (UPI)
