California Man Allegedly Dressed As Bear To Commit Fraud

California authorities are accusing a man of dressing as a brown bear and damaging cars in order to collect insurance payouts. Him and three co-conspirators were charged after submitting video footage of what appeared to be a brown bear climbing into a Rolls Royce and tearing apart the interior. “Upon further scrutiny of the video, the investigation determined the bear was actually a person in a bear costume,” a statement from the state Insurance Department read. Additionally, police found a bear costume at the accused’s residence. Overall, the four allegedly attempted to defraud insurance companies of more than $140,000. (newser)
