74-year-old Shah Alam sold the banana that would be duct-taped to a wall by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and resold for $6.2 million dollars. The original cost of the banana? 35 cents. Alam runs a stand outside of the Sotheby New York auction house and currently makes $12 an hour. “Those who bought it, what kind of people are they?” Alam asked. “Do they not know what a banana is?” The duct-taped banana was recently purchased by Justin Sun, who planned to eat his $6.2 million-dollar artwork.
