A 12-year-old boy from Washington state reportedly took his grandfather’s Volkswagen hatchback on a 160-mile joyride the day before Thanksgiving. The unidentified boy was stopped by officers with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. While he did lead officers on a short pursuit, no one was injured while the vehicle was immobilized. The boy’s trip took about 2.5 hours through Interstate 90 in pre-Thanksgiving traffic. “For a 12-year-old to take a vehicle, and take it that far, we’re happy we were able to stop him before he hurt himself or hurt somebody else,” a sheriff’s office representative said. The boy is being held at the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center. (newser)
