Do you eat high-fat foods when you’re stressed? University of Birmingham researchers have found that drinking cocoa high in flavanols could help reduce the impacts of these foods. Flavanols could help counteract the negative impact of fatty foods and protect your body’s blood vessels. “We know that when people are stressed, they tend to gravitate towards high-fat foods,” Dr. Catarina Rendeiro said. “We wanted to see if adding a high-flavanol food to the fatty meal would alleviate the negative impact of stress in the body.” If you don’t enjoy hot cocoa, other high-flavanol options include: green tea; black tea; berries; and apples.
