A study of temperature-related deaths in Mexico found that young people under 35 are more vulnerable than previously thought. An analysis of deaths from 1998 to 2019 found a spike of heat-related deaths among younger adults. Researchers hypothesize that this number could represent employees who have to work outside, and young people who overestimate their abilities. “We found that younger people are especially vulnerable to humid heat,” study co-author Jeffrey Shrader said. “As the climate warms, we’re really going to be shifting the burden of temperature-related mortality towards younger individuals.” (newser)
