Officials in Bend, Oregon, are asking members of the public to stop putting giant googly eyes on statues. The oversized plastic eyes have popped up on installations around the town, but police are concerned about potential damage to the artwork. “While the googly eyes placed on the various art pieces around town might give you a chuckle, it costs money to remove them with care to not damage the art,” police said on social media. “Let’s stay away from adhesives, graffiti and all things that can damage the art.” The city has reportedly already spent more than $1,500 removing googly eyes from sculptures.
