Rockhampton Zoo in Australia had a surprise drill featuring the zoo’s director dressed as an ostrich. Liz Bellward donned a costume and “escaped” during operating hours. Guests had the chance to safely see how zookeepers would return the bird to its enclosure. “The exercise was kept a complete surprise, with staff only realizing it was a drill after it began,” Councilor Cherie Rutherford said. “It was also a surprise to zoo-goers on the day who were able to see the training in action.” (UPI)
