Ticketmaster and Airbnb will soon need to post the total price upfront, according to a new FTC ruling. The Federal Trade Commission now requires companies selling live event tickets or offering short-term housing to disclose the price with fees before checkout. “We all know the experience of encountering a hidden fee at the very last stage of checkout,” President Biden said. “These junk fees sneak onto your bill and companies end up making you pay more.” The FTC has called the practice of displaying one price and then tacking on fees after “deceptive.” This rule will go into effect within 120 days and could save consumers 53 million hours a year.
