Florida man Denny Dorcey purchased a foreclosure home 10 years ago…but was recently hit with fines accrued before he even bought the house. “The letter said that I owe the city over $1 million for code violation fines,” Dorcey said. The previous owner had minor violations like overgrown weeds and garbage in the garage. However, over the years, the cost of the penalties grew. Fortunately, legal expert Howard Finkelstein said that Dorcey is not on the hook because he bought the property in foreclosure, which wiped out existing liens and fines. The city of Oakland Park recently removed the fines. (Yahoo! Finance)
