Sammy Hagar Slams Alex Van Halen For Not Acknowledging “Van Hagar” In His Memoir

Sammy Hagar took to Instagram over the weekend to look back on his time in Van Halen, while also voicing his anger about Alex Van Halen not acknowledging that era of the band in his recent memoir, Brothers. The post features a photo from 1991 of Hagar and late guitarist Eddie Van Halen heading to the stage together, but commenters quickly turned it into a heated comparison between the band’s David Lee Roth years to the “Van Hagar” run. Hagar responded to some comments, while also expressing his frustration that his time with the band was entirely omitted from Alex’s memoir. “Alex is not doing his brother’s musical legacy justice by not acknowledging all the No. 1 albums and some great music Eddie and I wrote together — not Alex — but Eddie and I wrote together,” Hagar wrote. “To not acknowledge [those] 10 years of music is blasphemy to his brother’s musicianship, songwriting and legacy.” (Consequence of Sound)
