Researchers in Barcelona have found that the size and nutritional quality of your breakfast could play a big role in your health. In a study of 383 adults, participants who ate less than 20% or more than 30% of their daily calories at breakfast tended to have a higher BMI and larger waistlines. This means that the “sweet spot” for breakfast is between 20% and 30% of your daily intake. For someone who eats 2,000 calories a day, this would be between 400 and 600 calories. The ideal breakfast includes whole grains, healthy fats, and lean proteins. “Eating controlled amounts—not too much or too little—and ensuring good nutritional composition is crucial,” researcher Álvaro Hernáez said.
