A University of Essex study found that men were more likely than women to let emotions influence their financial choices. Researchers asked 186 participants to watch neutral or scary movie clips, and then had them complete risky decision-making financial choices. Men tended to make more conservative decisions when they watched horror clips, while women’s decisions remained consistent no matter which clip they watched. “Since women generally score higher on emotional intelligence tests, this could explain the big differences we see between men and women,” Dr. Nikhil Masters said. “We don’t make choices in a vacuum and a cooling-off period might be crucial after encountering emotionally charged situations.” (Study Finds)
