Apparently, even bugs harbor hard feelings! A German study found that ants can hold grudges against insects in rival colonies. Researchers examined black garden ants, who live in colonies and regularly come into contact with other groups. A series of experiments found that ants acted aggressively toward members of colonies they had previously fought with. “We often have the idea that insects function like pre-programmed robots,” Dr. Volker Nehring said. “On the contrary, ants also learn from their experiences and can hold a grudge.” (Study Finds)
