Texan man Steve Michell spent five years achieving the perfect credit score. On his journey to 850, Michell found a strange correlation between debt and a higher score. Using 6% of his $35,000 credit limit worked against him, but so did a zero balance. What was the sweet spot? A balance of between .5% and 1.5% of his credit limit helped him reach the coveted score. However, Michell agrees that his efforts were probably overkill. “My daughter gets the exact same credit-card offers I do…and she’s had a credit history of about four years,” he said. (newser)
