Five-month-old baby gorilla Zeytin was rescued from a plane’s cargo hold and is being kept in Istanbul, officials reported Sunday. The animal was discovered on a Turkish Airlines flight from Nigeria to Thailand last month. While Zeytin recovers at the Polonezkoy Zoo, experts consider releasing him back into the wild. “Of course, what we want and desire is for the baby gorilla … to continue its life in its homeland,” Fahrettin Ulu of Istanbul Nature Conservation and National Parks said. Zeytin has since gained weight and shows other signs of recovery. (newser)
