The French mint is replacing a number of medals from the 2024 Paris Olympics after some athletes complained that their awards are already deteriorating. At least 100 medals will be replaced, although the official number is unknown. “The Monnaie de Paris has taken the issue of damaged medals very seriously,” the French mint said. “Since then, the company has modified and optimized its relative varnishing process.” French swimmers Yohann Ndoye-Brouard and ClĂ©ment Secchi posted photos of their medals, which appeared to be flaking.
