A Durham University survey conducted between February and June 2024 found that 86.6% of astrobiologists agree that it’s likely that extraterrestrial life exists somewhere in the universe. Less than 2% disagreed, and 12% were neutral. In total, 521 astrobiologists responded to the poll. While this data seems to suggest that scientists believe in alien life, there’s a general lack of empirical evidence, and some respondents may have picked a “safe” answer instead of speculating.
