The World Monuments Fund has listed the moon as an at-risk site. More specifically, the organization is concerned that space tourism threatens to destroy Neil Armstrong’s boot print. “Exploitative visitation, souveniring, and looting by future missions and private lunar exploration could eventually compromise this truly unique cultural heritage,” the WMF says. Its annual list of 25 monuments to protect also includes Gaza; Antakya, Turkey; and Maine’s historic lighthouses. (newser)
