A study funded by the National Institutes of Health found that eating processed red meats like bacon, sausage, and bologna can actually increase the likelihood of dementia. 133,771 participants without dementia were given a food questionnaire every two to four years. Those who ate high amounts of processed red meat were 13% more likely to develop dementia. “This study adds to the growing body of evidence that the lifestyle choices we make impact our brain health,” Dr. Judith Heidebrink said. Researchers suggested switching to other protein sources, like fish, poultry, and eggs. (UPI)
