Armia Khalil has worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for over 10 years, and now he protects his own work! When museum curator Akili Tommasino heard that Khalil was a sculptor, he asked to see his work and offered him a spot in an exhibit titled “Flight Into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876-Now.” Khalil’s piece, “Hope–I Am a Morning Scarab,” can be seen at the museum through February 17th. Khalil says the scarab “tells us not to give up hope.” (newser)
