Canadian man Aaron Michael Yarema claimed he “got carried away” when he went on a joyride in an excavator and caused a million dollars in damage to a water treatment plant. Yarema pleaded guilty to driving the equipment into vehicles and buildings, and reportedly blamed the owner for leaving the keys in the ignition. “”He commented, ‘Any big kid is going to play demolition derby,'” Crown prosecutor Martyn Langstaff said. A report said Yarema consumed crack cocaine and methamphetamine prior to the offense. He will spend up to 35 months in prison. (CBC)
