Police in Houston, Texas, have a unique problem with their evidence room: Rats keep stealing drugs. “We got 400,000 pounds of marijuana in storage,” Houston mayor John Witmire said. “The rats are the only ones enjoying it.” This has prompted the facility to find another way to store evidence, but keeping the rodents out is tricky. “This is difficult getting those rodents out of there. I mean, think about it. They’re drug-addicted rats,” Peter Stout of the Houston Forensic Science Center said. The department will begin destroying evidence from prior to 2015 if it’s not applicable to any cases. (Turn To 10)
