Greek police said on Wednesday that they’re investigating how a 2,000-year-old statue nearly ended up in the garbage. Fortunately, a 32-year-old man discovered the piece in a black bag. The work is from the Hellenistic period (between 323 and 31 BC). It will be analyzed, evaluated, and conserved, a police statement reads. Accidental discoveries such as these are common in Greece during building construction. (AOL)
