It’s a win for single parents! A court in Spain ruled that new mom Silvia Pardo Moreno was entitled to 32 weeks of parental leave from work…double what a parent usually gets. Moreno made the argument that since she was a single parent, she should receive two sets of mandatory leave time. While social services denied this request, Pardo eventually filed an appeal with Murcia’s high court, which ruled in her favor. “It’s obvious that the duration and intensity of the need to care for a newborn are the same, regardless of the family model into which he or she was born,” the court said.
