Popular coffee chain Starbucks has decided that only paying customers can use the bathroom, which has left citizens wondering about when and where they’re allowed to “go.” In New York, restaurants must provide bathroom access if there are 20 or more seats in the establishment. California requires larger restaurants to allow restroom access if it was built after 1984. “It’s so mishmash,” Steven Soifer of the American Restroom Association said. “If [a retailer] is serving food and drink, it’s a health hazard if there isn’t a public bathroom.” (newser)
