According to a recent study published in the journal Nature Medicine, the brain may harbor significantly higher levels of microplastics compared to other organs in the body. Analysis of brain, liver, and kidney samples from 47 cadavers revealed that the brain contained approximately 10 times more microplastics than the other organs, averaging 4,800 micrograms per gram of brain tissue, equivalent to the amount in a standard plastic spoon. Though not yet cause for major concern, experts highlighted the pervasive presence of microplastics in the environment and the need for further research into their potential health effects.
