Kayaker Describes Being Swallowed By Humpback Whale

Footage of kayaker Adrián Simancas being swallowed by a whale has stunned social media users around the world. “I spent a second realizing I was inside the mouth of something, that maybe it had eaten me, that it could have been an orca or a sea monster,” the 23-year-old said of the ordeal. He began to think about how he could survive inside of the whale when just as suddenly, the mammal spat him out. Simancas described the inside of the whale’s mouth as “slimy.” The kayaker had been paddling off Chile’s coast with his father, who took the now-viral footage. “The whale was likely feeding on a school of fish when it unintentionally scooped up the kayak along with its meal,” conservationist Roched Jacobson Seba said.
