The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a study on Thursday suggesting some cases of bird flu are going undetected. Researchers collected blood samples from 150 veterinarians who worked with cattle and found three contained H5N1 antibodies, which suggests they had been recently infected. “Any detection of asymptomatic or mild cases in this study just tells me we’re missing cases,” Lauren Sauer of the University of Nebraska said. Some scientists are concerned that the flu that has decimated bird populations could spread to cattle and even humans. (NPR)
