Can listening to music really help you work? A study from Georgetown and Stanford Universities tested four different types of sounds: work flow music; deep focus music; pop hits; and office noise. 76% of participants who listened to “work flow” music started to work faster, while still doing an accurate job. Pop music, on the other hand, did not seem to boost mood or productivity. What makes good “work flow” music? Go for a tempo around 119 beats per minute, a strong steady rhythm, simple melodies, no lyrics, and a balanced energy level. (Study Finds)
