According to NASA, there’s a 3.1% chance that asteroid 2024 YR4 will hit Earth on December 22nd, 2032. This is an increase from the February 7th estimate of 2.3% chance of contact. The asteroid is 130 to 300 feet wide, which is large enough to wipe out an entire city. “In the unlikely event that 2024 YR4 is on an impact trajectory, the impact would occur somewhere along a risk corridor which extends across the eastern Pacific Ocean, northern South America, the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, the Arabian Sea, and South Asia,” NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory said.
