A new app called “Protector” offers personal security and a ride to those who use it. “Protector users can schedule veteran and former law enforcement private security personnel to serve as personal protection when needed,” the profile in the App store says. So far, the service is only available in New York City and Los Angeles. A promotional video for the app references the death of Brian Thompson, and what could have happened if the CEO had been escorted using Protector’s services. Product manager Nikita Bier describes the app as “Uber with guns.” (Hollywood Reporter)
