President Trump’s administration has released a plan to help bring down the cost of eggs. “We will repurpose some of those dollars by investing in long-term solutions to avian flu,” Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins wrote. This effort, which could cost up to $1 billion dollars, will aim to stop the flu’s spread, develop vaccines for chickens, and facilitate the raising of backyard chickens. The number of imported eggs from Turkey may rise from 70 million per year to 420 million. While the shortage won’t be fixed overnight, Rollins said they’re “confident that it will restore stability to the egg market.” (newser)
