Father-daughter relationships have improved since the 1950s, a recent study from the University of Essex found. One key factor seems to help the bond: Exercise. Researchers found that walking, cycling, and swimming have helped emotional bonds between daddies and daughters throughout the years. Women born in the 1950s tended to think their fathers showed love through financial support, while millennial women described more emotionally-balanced relationships. “From a father’s perspective, physical activity can simultaneously function as a method of upholding a masculine identity while performing one-to-one parenting, so they feel much more comfortable in this environment,” John Day of the University of Essex said.
