Colossal Biosciences announced on Tuesday that it had created woolly mice…mice with long, luxurious hair that could help them withstand cold temperatures. The lab used gene-editing to modify hair-related genes, and the changes appeared to result in long golden locks. “We ended up with some absolutely adorable mice that have longer, woolly, golden-colored coats,” Chief Science Officer Beth Shapiro said. This could mean scientists are one step closer to bringing woolly mammoths back to life. (newser)
