International Women’s Day is March 8th, and while the day celebrates advances in women’s accomplishments and rights, the gender pay gap has still not been closed. In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, the gender pay gap has worsened for the first time in 20 years. Interestingly, 21% of American men don’t believe the gender pay gap exists, a Talker Research survey found. “What I have found is that people, men in particular, are often surprised by the things women are subjected to at work,” Tara Ceranic Salinas, PhD., said. Women earn an average of 83 cents for every dollar a white man earned in 2023. Black women earned 66 cents, and Latina women earned 58 cents to the dollar. Research has found that companies also lose money due to turnover related to women seeking jobs that pay more fairly. (Talker Research)
