The world’s first vegetable orchestra has officially played over 344 concerts over the course of 27 years! The 11-piece orchestra was founded in 1999 in Vienna after musicians had the idea of carving veggies into instruments. “We were making soup together at the time, and one idea led to another,” founding member Matthias Meinharter said. Instruments include recorders carved from carrots and mandolins made of leeks. Instruments last only about six hours before they perish. (UPI)
