Is it time to head outside to dry your clothes? A study from the University of Michigan found that line-drying your clothes could save you thousands. Partial line-drying can reduce emissions by up to 67%, and line-drying 100% could save households $2,100 over a dryer’s lifetime. Dryers consume 3.1% of residential energy and cost Americans $7.7 billion dollars per year. In addition to saving money, line-drying could be better for the environment. “We tend to focus on technological improvements, but a lot of the time, behavioral changes can have larger impacts,” study co-author Shelie Miller said. “If we are going to tackle climate change, we have to think about both cultural and technical solutions.” (Study Finds)
