Over the weekend, a series of deadly storms ravaged the Midwest. Unfortunately, recent research shows that the public may not know the difference between a “tornado watch” and a “tornado warning.” Researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln say confusion regarding these terms could result in delayed reactions. A “Tornado Warning” means a tornado has been detected or visually confirmed, and that action should be taken immediately. A “Tornado Watch” means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form, and to be prepared. The average lead time for tornado warnings is 13 minutes. (Study Finds)
