64% of Americans don’t want to know how their favorite celebrity votes, a Talker Research survey of 2,000 participants found. 18% say they would stop being a fan if they found out their favorite celeb disagreed with their political views. “People like to feel that their favorite celebrity lives in a world of their own, a special place free of mundane issues,” Dr. Carole Lieberman said. “They like to imagine singers like Taylor Swift sitting alone in their bedroom, looking over mementos of past loves.” Younger generations are more likely to want to know which parties celebrities affiliate with, and 41% of Gen Zers would stop being a fan if their politics didn’t align.
