Londoner Gareth Jenkens was working in a garden when he discovered 15 “zombie spiders” beneath the deck. The insects were covered in a white material but were still capable of moving. After posting photos online, Jenkens learned that the spiders had been infected with a entomopathogenic fungus. This fungus infects the brains of spiders and uses their bodies to spread before the host dies. Some commenters were more horrified than helpful. “After I posted it online, I was told to burn the house down,” Jenkens said. (metro.co.uk)
