An unofficial mascot of Anchorage, Alaska was euthanized after potentially being poisoned. Reindeer Star VII is often seen in local parades and events, but a masked intruder has been caught on film spraying him with an unknown substance. After this incident, Star began to lose weight and become sick. Unfortunately, the 8-year-old reindeer was soon put down. While the reindeers are usually replaced once they pass on, owner Albert Whitehead says he will not get a Star VIII until the suspect is found. “I don’t feel safe putting another animal in that pen,” Whitehead commented.
