A new Swedish study indicates that excessive screen time among teenage girls can lead to sleep deprivation and an increased risk of developing depression. The research, which tracked over 4,800 Swedish students aged 12 to 16, revealed that prolonged screen time was associated with poorer sleep quality, delayed sleep schedules, and an increased likelihood of experiencing depression symptoms, particularly in girls. The study found that girls were more than twice as likely as boys to exhibit depression symptoms, and a significant portion of these symptoms could be attributed to changes in sleep patterns influenced by screen use.
