Silicon Valley crosswalks appear to have been hacked to sound like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg spouting bizarre messages. Video footage in Redwood City, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto show messages playing when certain buttons are pressed. The voices imitate the way the billionaires sound. “It’s normal to feel uncomfortable or even violated as we forcefully insert AI into every facet of your conscious experience,” a Redwood City crosswalk says in a voice claiming to be Zuckerberg. Another message reportedly tells pedestrians that they’ll get a Cybertruck if they become Musk’s friend. City of Palo Alto spokesperson Meghan Horrigan-Taylor said 12 downtown intersections were impacted, and the voice announcement feature has been disabled until it can be repaired. It’s currently unclear who is behind the hack. (Palo Alto Online)
