Americans believe only 41% of the content they consume online is accurate, fact-based, and created by a real human. The Talker Research poll commissioned by World also found that respondents think 23% of web content is false and purposely misleading. “Trust in the internet hasn’t just declined — it’s collapsed under an avalanche of AI-generated noise,” Rebecca Hahn of Humanity said. “The internet has become a house of mirrors where 78% of Americans can no longer distinguish real from artificial.” 82% of the 2,000 respondents agree that businesses and vendors should legally be required to disclose if AI is used in their customer service, marketing, or other content.
