Elon Musk’s Starbase Now A Real Company Town

Registered voters in South Texas voted 212 to 6 to formally create a company town for SpaceX. Starbase, Texas is now officially a city. Candidates for mayor and city commissioner positions are all current or former SpaceX employees, and are running unopposed. “The number of jobs, the pay, the attention, the development, the energy, the excitement has been a net positive,” county judge Eddie Trevino Jr. said. However, some residents and officials are concerned. Longtime residents are worried that access to Boca Chica Beach will be restricted, and one pre-SpaceX resident, Homer Pompa, is refusing to sell his land. “I want to die here.
