Is it possible to get too much sleep? A study from the University of Texas Health Science Centre found that sleeping nine hours a night could raise dementia risk. Researchers followed 1,853 adults between the ages of 25 and 85 and found those who slept more than nine hours performed worse on cognitive tests over time. However, more research is needed to understand the link between excessive sleep and cognitive decline, as it’s possible that early dementia symptoms are leading to increased sleep, and not the other way around.
